It was designed by a British architect Leonard Allen, it had a British manager and a British made Compton 4Manual/10Rank theatre organ was installed (the last organ to be manufactured by the Compton company). It was opened by organist Gerald Shaw, and was the only known theatre pipe organ to be installed in the Middle East. The Rivoli Cinema showcased British films and seated 2,150.
