AUC Bookstore: what do users think?
Carol El Hawary: I love this bookshop.
Andrey Gusev: Nice bookstore at AUC. Come with your passport.
أبراهيم: hype
yasmine mansour: Their numbers aren’t replying neither their website work properly!
Ian Harris: Nice store and grounds of you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Wander around the beautiful albeit not cheap books, mostly (all?) in English and covering a bit of everything. We were lucky and there was -20% or so on purchases, and you can pay with credit card.
Christian Schubert: I live in Cairo, and since 2018 this store had always stood out as one of the very (!) few interesting bookstores in Cairo. Not anymore. It has become quite boring, the staff seems unprofessional. Asking for the catalogue, for instance, is asking too much! Cannot recommend this place anymore, and I say this as a fan of AUC Press itself!
Abanoub Habeb: I liked it. Also it's a very good place if you're looking for Arabic learning books especially Egyptian Arabic.
Mohamed Gaber: a wonderful place 💜
Mohamed Kilany: It's calm and classy store. People are helpful and friendly. You can see feedback notes from people who read some books, which gives you an idea about what you expect from these books.
ABo*MoSTAfA: مكتبة قيمة
Ahmed Abdallah: It's nice place
Mohsen Saleh: For sure , when i access AUC campus, I feel myself at one of the great universities in the world here in Cairo. The view, the touch of beauty even the air have other flavor. I feel this nostalgia for staying there for ever. Hope that one day an opening for listeners access be available for the people like me who are not studying at AUC and wish to attend the lectures and events. In brief, I adore this place.
Khaled Hassan: ممتاز جدا وبه مجموعة هايلة ومختلفة من الكتب واسعاره مختلفة
Hadi Muss: A very cozy bookstore with lots of English books selections. The prices are quite standard and special here, if you want to buy books specifically on Egypt, Egyptology and more this is the right place. New niche novels from various author and various genre also available. A must visit bookstore!
Marie Frietman: Good bookshop with all kind of themes
Marie Julie Frietman: Good bookshop worth all kinds of themes
Christian Schoeberl: Well sortet book shop with an high quality levelled selection of books. Recommendable for students too :)
Amirul Sidiq: Bookstore is good

Shorouk Bookstores: what do users think?
Mohamed Gamal: amazing
Muhammad Magdi: Al-Shorouk for Libraries is one of Al-Shorouk Group companies, and it represents the natural extension of Dar Al-Shorouk, which was established in 1968 and transformed over the years from being an independent publisher to becoming a leading publishing house in the Middle East, which has established its position with its strong convictions in the values of spreading culture and science and its impact. On the progress and advancement of society, and on maintaining the publishing rights of the largest writers and authors in the Arab region, many of whom won the most important Arab and international awards.Al-Shorouk Bookstores is considered one of the largest leading chains for selling books in Egypt, and it includes an exceptional assortment of the most prominent and important Arabic and foreign titles at prices within the reach of the reader. Over 20,000 titles, and by offering the best retail experience to the end consumer. The idea of establishing outlets for the distribution and sale of books began when Dar Al-Shorouk opened “Al-Shorouk Bookstores” in London in 1983, to be a beacon of Arab culture in Europe. Then, in 1988, it opened its famous library in the heart of Cairo in Talaat Harb Square, steps away from Tahrir Square. In 2008, convinced by Al-Shorouk Group that the circle through which its publishing system will be completed is the presence of a specialized chain of libraries and outlets for direct sale, offering its production and the production of all Arab and international publishing houses alike, it established “Al-Shorouk Bookstores” company, to be a network A wide range of libraries, which not only provide readers with a place to sell books, but are also community centers that communicate with the residents of their surroundings by holding seminars and reading sessions with leading authors, as well as benefiting from their deep and close relations in inviting leading Arab and foreign writers and authors, and organizing parties, seminars and events. Cultural and community, which are covered by various media, in addition to providing educational, recreational and artistic activities and workshops for children.
Hussein Moussa: The English section is too small
Jamal: It is coming
Ismail Elbedawey: A very special collection of books, especially children's books
Mahmoud Emara: Unfortunately, too expensive books and stories in particular children colouring books. There's no children books series like animals, plants..... which is more interesting to kids.
Amira Alraey: The staff is very nice and respectful, they answer the landline so you can ask about the books you want before you go and order a copy if you'd like.
belal qaid: One of the best publishing houses in Egypt. It has thousands of titles and keeps pace with everything new in the book market.
Omar Osman: Excellent service and customer attention
Mohammad Qrimli: Tidy and clean
Salem Al-otaibi: worth a visit
naif mhamd: I got all of Radwa Ashour's novels
Hamis Ali: His library is good, it contains a variety of books and a lot, but the prices are very high, and some books are sometimes unavailable, unfortunately
M_Faesal 12: It's great, especially the staff who bring you sold out in all Al Shorouk branches👍👍
Ahmed Alidrissi: Good staffGood booksBut super expensiveNo offer or dicount for Major purchase
Fares Rashidy: Most of the books are available and original, but they are really expensive
Toka Ibrahim: Dar Al-Shorouk always has people to recommend the best books for you, especially if you are confused about what you would like to read there, and they will recommend you the best book for it.Of course, all kinds of books include Arabic or otherEven if someone asks for a book that is not available, they will guide him where he can find itAnd even if someone is doing studies on a specific topic that is not available, books about it can guide him, it may be in a university library or others...
ديكورات Fantastic art decorations: Al-Shorouk Talaat Harb branch is one of the nearest bookstore branches to me. I enjoy my permanent stay there
Dina Nabil: Good treatment from the staffGood book packaging and great care
Nadooo .b: I wanted to take a souvenir photo of my children in the middle of the library, but the employee prevented me under the pretext of banning photography! What is this reactionary thinking that makes photography prohibited in the library?! It is impossible for me to enter this branch again 👎

Oum El Dounia Gallery: what do users think?
Christopher Shields: Beautiful selection of items, not touristy. Friendly staff and fair prices.
Stef Meliss: The cutest little shop to buy beautiful Egyptian made products from independent artists and craftspeople. If khan-al-Khalili is too busy for you, this is the place to go. We had such a nice shopping experience including fresh juice and 1:1 consultation on the origins of all the beautiful pieces, cannot recommend it highly enough!!
Lena Katende: Literally bumped into this hidden gem while looking for a grocery shop on the last day in Cairo. Conveniently close to Tahrir square. Crammed full of high quality artisan products from all over Egypt, you are sure to find some treasures to take home. I did! So, enjoy the Hibiscus welcome drink and happy shopping.
Reinhard Staudacher: Toller Souvenirshop!
Sebastián Dohnány: What a beautiful shop! Hidden on the first floor, away from the noise and mess, they have a great selection of items to bring back home from Egypt.
Amy Baxter: A lovely artisan handicraft shop in Downtown Cairo which feels like a calm oasis just off the busy street! The staff were so kind and welcomed us with a refreshing glass of juice. Gorgeous pottery, prints, baskets and textiles with information about the makers - very reasonable prices. Highly recommend!
Hadeel Abu Salih: Special handmade merchandise, the staff is really nice and helpful, if you’re in Cairo don’t leave without visiting their store.
Benoît “Benoît” Galland: Great place to buy « real » craftsman products, with a nice welcoming from a lovely staff, near Tahir plazaHighly recommended

L'orientaliste: what do users think?
Andrey Gusev: I was lucky enough to visit this place before honorable owner of the shop, Mr. Hassan Kami, passed away in 2018, and to shake hands with him. Unfortunately, that spirit that was at the place then is also leaving. Rest in peace, Great Egyptian!
Jeff Narver: I just went to the Orientalist book shop in Cairo after a trip to the Egyptian Museum. I finally found it and had to push hard to get the door open. I was looking for antiquarian books in English on ancient Egypt and found nothing but a few common hardcovers. The woman didn’t speak English well and was not inclined to help. The book stock was falling apart and I think that they focus on pictures. A true waste of time, avoid avoid avoid.
Georgios Oikonomou: Probably it used to be a nice and interesting place in the 60s. Unfortunately, I have never experienced it during the old days. There is only one employee left, his English is limited, he has no clue what he sells or in which language the books are written. If you are a foreigner expect at least to pay 5 times more than an Egyptian (tried this since I live in Cairo). Sad... Be careful!
ALKADI Aj: magnificence
Panagiotis Cafatsakis: Very exciting place.
Carlos Sarasola Orio: Great bookshop with lots of old and curious books, maps, postcards and memorabilia from Egypt and more.
J B: Small space but very full with a wonderful collection of old books and prints. Going to have to make multiple trips to take it all in!
Ramez Boshra: Very old and unique library
13 Outdoor: It is the best place I visited in CairoAnd the library has a soul from the owner of the library - the artist Hassan KamiIf I have time for a month in Cairo, I will stay here for 30 daysThis is the best book store in Cairo or maybe in Egypt. The reason is because the store of Mr. Hassan Kamy is very impressed.I will be back!Highly recommend you to visit here
Mickael aziz: A tresor of old and rare books, a beautiful lithograhs and old postcards
Mohammed Abdel Aziz: A treasure trove of heritage books, drawings and rare manuscripts, in a magical location in the heart of Khedive Cairo
Kenzy Fahmy: Does not seem to be able to differentiate between fakes and originals so one should be wary of buying overpriced reproductions. Will pull prices out of a hat and change them on a whim. Insanely overpriced and untrustworthy. A real shame as he has some great stuff.
Jacob Bower-Bir: You will spend more time in here than you intend to. The staff are welcoming and speak many languages.

Mohammed A: Waiters are great but 20th century decoration
Elger Hoekstra: Nice employees and the heat Cuba Libre I ever had. Alcohol is insanely expensive here for Egypt (any alcoholic shot or cocktail is 12€ and more), but we were here during Ramadan and were already super happy that we could get a nice drink at all!
