Mohamed Mosaad: An open space from time to time

L'orientaliste: what do users think?
Andrey Gusev: I was lucky enough to visit this place before honorable owner of the shop, Mr. Hassan Kami, passed away in 2018, and to shake hands with him. Unfortunately, that spirit that was at the place then is also leaving. Rest in peace, Great Egyptian!
Jeff Narver: I just went to the Orientalist book shop in Cairo after a trip to the Egyptian Museum. I finally found it and had to push hard to get the door open. I was looking for antiquarian books in English on ancient Egypt and found nothing but a few common hardcovers. The woman didn’t speak English well and was not inclined to help. The book stock was falling apart and I think that they focus on pictures. A true waste of time, avoid avoid avoid.
Georgios Oikonomou: Probably it used to be a nice and interesting place in the 60s. Unfortunately, I have never experienced it during the old days. There is only one employee left, his English is limited, he has no clue what he sells or in which language the books are written. If you are a foreigner expect at least to pay 5 times more than an Egyptian (tried this since I live in Cairo). Sad... Be careful!
ALKADI Aj: magnificence
Panagiotis Cafatsakis: Very exciting place.
Carlos Sarasola Orio: Great bookshop with lots of old and curious books, maps, postcards and memorabilia from Egypt and more.
J B: Small space but very full with a wonderful collection of old books and prints. Going to have to make multiple trips to take it all in!
Ramez Boshra: Very old and unique library
13 Outdoor: It is the best place I visited in CairoAnd the library has a soul from the owner of the library - the artist Hassan KamiIf I have time for a month in Cairo, I will stay here for 30 daysThis is the best book store in Cairo or maybe in Egypt. The reason is because the store of Mr. Hassan Kamy is very impressed.I will be back!Highly recommend you to visit here
Mickael aziz: A tresor of old and rare books, a beautiful lithograhs and old postcards
Mohammed Abdel Aziz: A treasure trove of heritage books, drawings and rare manuscripts, in a magical location in the heart of Khedive Cairo
Kenzy Fahmy: Does not seem to be able to differentiate between fakes and originals so one should be wary of buying overpriced reproductions. Will pull prices out of a hat and change them on a whim. Insanely overpriced and untrustworthy. A real shame as he has some great stuff.
Jacob Bower-Bir: You will spend more time in here than you intend to. The staff are welcoming and speak many languages.

Muhammad Magdi: Al-Shorouk for Libraries is one of Al-Shorouk Group companies, and it represents the natural extension of Dar Al-Shorouk, which was established in 1968 and transformed over the years from being an independent publisher to becoming a leading publishing house in the Middle East, which has established its position with its strong convictions in the values of spreading culture and science and its impact. On the progress and advancement of society, and on maintaining the publishing rights of the largest writers and authors in the Arab region, many of whom won the most important Arab and international awards.Al-Shorouk Bookstores is considered one of the largest leading chains for selling books in Egypt, and it includes an exceptional assortment of the most prominent and important Arabic and foreign titles at prices within the reach of the reader. Over 20,000 titles, and by offering the best retail experience to the end consumer. The idea of establishing outlets for the distribution and sale of books began when Dar Al-Shorouk opened “Al-Shorouk Bookstores” in London in 1983, to be a beacon of Arab culture in Europe. Then, in 1988, it opened its famous library in the heart of Cairo in Talaat Harb Square, steps away from Tahrir Square. In 2008, convinced by Al-Shorouk Group that the circle through which its publishing system will be completed is the presence of a specialized chain of libraries and outlets for direct sale, offering its production and the production of all Arab and international publishing houses alike, it established “Al-Shorouk Bookstores” company, to be a network A wide range of libraries, which not only provide readers with a place to sell books, but are also community centers that communicate with the residents of their surroundings by holding seminars and reading sessions with leading authors, as well as benefiting from their deep and close relations in inviting leading Arab and foreign writers and authors, and organizing parties, seminars and events. Ahmed Alidrissi: Good staffGood booksBut super expensiveNo offer or dicount for Major purchase
Fares Rashidy: Most of the books are available and original, but they are really expensive
Toka Ibrahim: Dar Al-Shorouk always has people to recommend the best books for you, especially if you are confused about what you would like to read there, and they will recommend you the best book for it.Of course, all kinds of books include Arabic or otherEven if someone asks for a book that is not available, they will guide him where he can find itAnd even if someone is doing studies on a specific topic that is not available, books about it can guide him, it may be in a university library or others...
ديكورات Fantastic art decorations: Al-Shorouk Talaat Harb branch is one of the nearest bookstore branches to me. I enjoy my permanent stay there
Dina Nabil: Good treatment from the staffGood book packaging and great care
Nadooo .b: I wanted to take a souvenir photo of my children in the middle of the library, but the employee prevented me under the pretext of banning photography! What is this reactionary thinking that makes photography prohibited in the library?! It is impossible for me to enter this branch again 👎
