Joshua Baxter: Foreigners DO NOT take the trains here unless you absolutely have to. I just traveled from aswan to cairo. Egypt welcomes guests by charging us 7 times the regular price and yet receiving the same awful service.I spent the past 14hrs on a train barely getting time to nap because locals are constantly tossing snacks, shirts, socks, and any thing they want to sell on your lap. They don't care if you're asleep or not.I honestly wouldn't mind paying the local price of 125egp and getting the local experience.But if I'm paying 930egp, I expect something better.Oh and I just watched two mice playing around on the floor by me. it's a fun time here.

I was directed to the Foreign office at the station to buy train tickets and I got ripped off for extra 1000 Egyptian pounds, as I didn't have dollars. It is shameful to see a public service doing this!
