Just a metro ride away from the centre, the museum has an impressive collection of Coptic art. Well worth a visit if you’re in Cairo.

It was founded by Marcus Simaika in 1908 to house Coptic antiquities. The museum traces the history of Egypt from its beginnings to the present day. It was erected on 8,000 square meter land offered by the Coptic Orthodox Church, under the guardianship of Pope Cyril V.The Coptic museum houses the world's most important examples of Coptic art and it was truly spectacular, the artifacts were breathtaking and the museum itself is very well-organized and everything was exhibited beautifully.I highly recommend checking out the museum whenever you’re in Coptic Cairo.

Abdulrahman Qazzaz: Incredible complex and a great example of the Egyptian Mamluk architecture and its richness.Situated in the heart of al-Mui’zz street in the center of Islamic Cairo, the complex consists of a tomb, madrasa, mosque, and a hospital, arranged on either side of a long, central corridor. The exterior structure of the Qalawun complex has many unique firsts in Mamluk architecture. The prayer hall of the madrasa projects into the street, asserting the prominence of the complex. The madrasa's three-story minaret, uniquely placed near the entrance of the building, has a papyrus cornice that harkens back to rule of the Pharaohs, serving to legitimize Mamluk rule. The 67-meter long façade of the complex displays similarities to Gothic or Crusader styles. The massive size and the details of the complex were truly spectacular and i do highly recommend visiting it during your trip to Cairo.

Twana Burhan mohamed ali: Cairo Citadel (or "Citadel of Saladin"): A Kurdish Citadel inEgyptKeleha Qahîrey@ (an "Keleha Selahedìn"): Keleheke Kurd li Qahire, Misir10 PHOTOS / WENE, SWIPE LEFT!•The Citadel of Saladin, or simply Cairo Citadel, is an enormous 12th century fortification in Cairo, the capital city of Egypt. Construction was started in 1176 and finished in 1183, making it the most ambitious fortification project of its time. The Kurdish Sultan Saladin made Cairo the seat of his ever-extending Sultanate and had this massive citadel built to protect his realm against the Crusaders. The citadel is strategically located on a promontory of the Mokattam hills overlooking Cairo. At the time, there used to be another city called "Fustat" but the Kurds merged it with Cairo by extending Cairo's City Walls, thus encircling and protecting both cities. The citadel was later extended by other dynasties.Saladin carried a yellow flag emblazoned with a double-headed eagle as his personal standard (photo 10 is a reconstruction). A gablestone (photo 9) of this eagle can be found on the citadel. The eagle is the Coat of Arms of Southern Kurdistan (Kurdistan Region in Iraq), Egypt (also found on the Flag of Egypt), Iraq, Palestine, Yemen, and Somaliland.Photo 7: view from the citadel over Cairo.Photo 8: old photo of the citadel. This Kurdish-built citadel still dominates the skyline of Cairo, the largest city in the Middle-East, and the 15th largest city in the world.

Muhammad Ali built his mosque inside the castle, and it is distinguished by using alabaster in building its walls and columns, and for that reason it is called the alabaster mosque.A place worth visiting
Kunal Surana: Iconic mosque and historical museums
Stephanie Gunther: A must see spot in Cairo, the view is mind boggling! The interior of the mosque magical. The reason for only 4 rather than 5 stars is the plastic bootie over your shoes scam. Yes it is true that no shoes are allowed inside the mosque, but you can just take them off!! They charge you for the booties (after you have already paid the entrance fee), hundreds of visitors each day, imagine the turnover for a non-service and imagine all that single use plastic for no good reason at all. This is a hustle. Just take your shoes off. Easy peasy.

You need to pay attention to your steps, especially if you have children or elderly peopleWhen visiting, some areas were undergoing maintenance, so the visit experience may be better in the futureIf you want to understand the history of the place better, you can use one of the tourist guides present in the place and their prices are acceptable

Green florishing trees and palms in the foreground, highriser buildings in the background. This could be really an amazing place!Unfortunately, it is in a very bad state. Rubbish lying around everywhere, broken windows at some exhibition caves, everything dusty and dirty. Finally, the aquariums with real fish are just cruelty to the animals. But with an entrance fee of just 20,- EGP just go there and judge yourself. The bats are an experience in any case!
King Lithe: A beautiful, spacious and very quiet place to relax and unwind

المصرى المصرى المصرى: excellent
Mostafa Said: Beautiful, but needs some attention
Enas Elhoufy: The fish garden in the Zamalek region, which was originally two separate islands that appeared in the middle of the Nile in the fifteenth century AD. The two islands were connected in the late eighteenth century AD, as the shape and size of the island was affected by the changes that resulted from the conversion of the course of the Nile geometrically from the West Bank to the East, and it was known as On Bulaq Island, Khedive Ismail took care of this island as part of his project, Paris of the East, so he built the Qasr al-Nil Bridge to connect Zamalek to Cairo, and the El-Galaa Bridge to connect it to Giza. When he met Monsieur Elvand, the director of the Paris parks, he asked him to establish gardens in Cairo similar to the Paris gardens. The fish garden was established on an area of eight acres in 1867 on Jabalia Street. The foyer and behind the fins on both sides there are four corridors, and there is a circle on the eastern side of the garden, which is from the inside in the form of corridors or cavities inside coral reefs, and when the air passes through these corridors, it makes sounds similar to the sound of gurgling waterAll of this is on my channel, The Bride of the Sea, Hala Mahmoud. The post is very sweet, because it shows how much we have beautiful thingsThe garden, whose facade overlooks the Nile, includes 49 fish ponds between the Nile, marine and ornamental, some of which are still working and others for stuffed fish, and areas that include species of turtles and reptiles that live in swamps and rivers. There are rare trees in the garden. The history of its establishment dates back to the year 1867, when Khedive Ismail asked the Paris Parks Director to bring an expert to design a garden in the form of a mountain, where the Aswan clay material brought from Aswan in Upper Egypt, red sand and supporting materials were used to establish the garden in the form of a mountain, which made it an architectural value until it appeared In the form of fish gills, and when it appeared on this picture, it was prepared to be a fish garden, and its design was taken to resemble a fish. It consists of two openings that resemble the two openings of gills, behind them is the foyer area, and on both sides of the openings are two lateral fins behind which are the corridors of the garden. In light of this unique design, the visitor finds in the front of the garden a large basin that contains many predatory fish, and among the species that arouse the curiosity of visitors are what are called pig fish and sharks. The name is Jabaliya, and it is distinguished from the inside by caves and passages so that it is easy for visitors to walk through them to see the glass boxes. While electric lights are shone on it in an artistic way in dark times, which increases the beauty of the scene, and a few meters away from the fish boxes, the visitor finds himself in front of corridors separated by green areas. Their admiration for this atmosphere of fun that they find in the garden, but it no longer enjoys a large number of visitors. Moreover, many Egyptians do not know the garden, and citizens of the cities of Cairo and Giza assert that they have not even heard of such a garden and that they only know only the Zoo in GizaAmong the most recent films that were filmed in the park is the movie “Garden of Fishes”. Do not forget, dear ones, that the movie “The Heart” has provisions starring the artist Faten Hamama and the artist Ahmed Ramzy, which was filmed there. The fish garden has an open-air cafeteria in the middle of which is a small stream of water in which flocks of ducks and geese swim, and many visitors to the garden like to sit in it and enjoy a beautiful landscape.
Mohamed Rostom: Need to develop the loss of non-use of the site and archaeological trees
mohamed asem: Unfortunately, a strong monster place - it's all neglected - to the point that it's full of bats and crows - something like the movies when you get a monster place that brings bats and crows in it - I wish any investor would take the place and develop it
samar mohammed: The most important thing that one should know is that the fish garden does not have fish as we expect 💔😂But the place is very nice, and it is useful to take very nice pictures
Isra' Ahmed: Suitable for dogs walk.
Eslam Slama: An excellent place suitable for the family. It opens at 9 o’clock and closes at 5 o’clock, but they start taking visitors out at 4.5 o’clock. It has a number of stunning views and there is a house for bats and a lake with geese and large colorful fish that you can feed. Also, there is what is called the factory, and there are a number of small ornamental fish, small crocodiles, turtles, some mummified foods, Nile fish farms, and others.Advice when going, take some bread with you to feed the fish in the big pond
فرس عربى: lousy
Zeina Abou El Fetouh: Very nice garden space, facilities need renovation

Unfortunately, our experience wasn't great because the ticket seller asked for a 10 pound tip because I got a student/teacher discounted ticket and was then forced getting the guide. When we said that we wanted to go alone he said he had to come to turn on the lights. He then continued to give a full tour despite our request. It was a frustrating experience. Pictured here is the guide waiting to take people around. Btw, he is nice and informative but at times he would whisper information to me and not my girlfriend (such as Gayer Anderson bring gay), which seemed odd. Again, we just wanted to enjoy the place on our own.

Museum of Islamic Art Cairo: what do users think?

Stefan Bishay: Very nice collection, and well organized in chronological order. I learned a lot about the art styles of the different time periods. Highly recommended!
Tarek Ghaith: The Museum of Islamic Art houses the largest and most amazing collection of Islamic antiquities in the world. The idea of collecting and displaying Islamic artifacts began in the year 1880 AD, from which the museum building was established and opened in 1903 AD during the reign of Khedive Abbas Helmy II.The museum was damaged as a result of the bombing of the Cairo Security Directorate building in 2014 AD, and it was renovated and opened in 2017 AD. It consists of two floors and the museum includes the largest collection of pieces from different parts of the Islamic world, which allows the visitor to wander through all periods of Islamic history, as its topics varied from astronomy, medicine, architecture, etc., and the materials of its manufacture varied from finely carved woodwork, elaborately decorated ceramic pieces and highly decorated manuscripts. rarity. Among the most important treasures of the museum is the key to the Kaaba from the Mamluk era and a piece of textile bearing the oldest Kufic writing.
