Maadi used books: what do users think?
Shaimaa Mohamed: The place is full of books and the prices are very good.... I bought a lot of children's books and found the books of the Green Library, the original edition ❤️
Ahmad Abd Elnasser: The best place in Egypt…
alaa azzam: I visited this place twice and it's really one of my favourites! You can't expect what kind of great books you'll find. I usually go there to exchange my books and I always come out with great finds. They even have so many books in so many languages not just Arabic and English. You can find books in Spanish, French, German, Japanese and so many more. I bought books in Korean, Urdu and Turkish. My only complaint is that the place is too tight and narrow and it can be suffocating in summer. A lot of the books are stacked on top of one another that it can be difficult to pull out a book. And most importantly, my favourite section which has an impressive collection of foreign languages is the narrowest spot in the place. Just by looking at the spines I can see that there are a lot of amazing books but I can't reach them or take a proper look with all the dust. It's too narrow and confined. I genuinely hope you give this place more space and attention because it has great potential.
Hana Tarek: Love the idea .. i find some nice books sometimes .. but they need to make better stuctured bookcases for their books and find a solution for all the dust.
Dietrich M: Very humble hidden gem in Maadi for bibliophiles and anyone really looking for a book on almost any subject. The organization and variety is great for such a small space, but a lot of books are out of reach and even more are shelved behind entire shelves of books; I wished I didn't have to kneel down to find some books because their collections are so varied and all-encompassing, especially in the English literature section. For horror aficionados, there are books by authors like James Herbert which I honestly haven't found elsewhere. It's definitely worth multiple visits; if you're really into books, expect to linger around for three hours or more. I was shocked honestly that there weren't many visitors.
Hend A.: A place hidden like this in a building's garage, selling used books, very good for all reading lovers, because it contains a wide variety of books on arts, history, children, education, architecture... almost everything. The owner of the place is helpful and helps you with what you are looking for.
Noha Hamed: The bookshop is goodBut some books are behind other books making it hard to see what's behindThe children corner and teens corner are good and easy to reachThe only thing missing is young adults books
Maha El Sholkamy: Excellent place with excellent staff.
عن تجربه: Prices are higher
Noha Safwat: A very diverse library with valuable books in many languages: dictionaries, novels... and various fields. The books are in very good condition and are well priced. And the treatment is very respectful
william el masry: I tried for three years to visit this store - finally made it with a friend. Nice selection in many categories. Hope to return soon.
fazal himam: Tempat recomended buat cari buku bekas. Bukunya bagus-bagus dan harganya bersahabat
Александр: A wonderful place, you will be surprised with what you can find here
Lucyana John: The best place for original used books ❤️📚
maria godschalk: Wonderful small paradise for book lovers! Many great finds in English, Arabic, French, even Dutch! All kinds of sections.Lovely passionate librarians who love to share a good conversation.Definitely worth visiting when you are in Maadi-Cairo.
Heba Abdo: I bought books on the basis that they are used, and they are cheaper at the same price as new books
مصطفي ديشا: Nice place with many books
Jacquelin Attia: It's a hidden gem... He literally has everything and so very cheap prices
أحمد الجمال: A nice place for used books and people can find buried treasures on the shelves, but they rotate well, a nice experience
Kareem Mostafa: Beautiful place and an excellent idea!
Eslam Oraby: Great place .. Amazing variety of old used books and old versions of Arabic and English literary productions 👍

L'orientaliste: what do users think?
Andrey Gusev: I was lucky enough to visit this place before honorable owner of the shop, Mr. Hassan Kami, passed away in 2018, and to shake hands with him. Unfortunately, that spirit that was at the place then is also leaving. Rest in peace, Great Egyptian!
Jeff Narver: I just went to the Orientalist book shop in Cairo after a trip to the Egyptian Museum. I finally found it and had to push hard to get the door open. I was looking for antiquarian books in English on ancient Egypt and found nothing but a few common hardcovers. The woman didn’t speak English well and was not inclined to help. The book stock was falling apart and I think that they focus on pictures. A true waste of time, avoid avoid avoid.
Georgios Oikonomou: Probably it used to be a nice and interesting place in the 60s. Unfortunately, I have never experienced it during the old days. There is only one employee left, his English is limited, he has no clue what he sells or in which language the books are written. If you are a foreigner expect at least to pay 5 times more than an Egyptian (tried this since I live in Cairo). Sad... Be careful!
ALKADI Aj: magnificence
Panagiotis Cafatsakis: Very exciting place.
Carlos Sarasola Orio: Great bookshop with lots of old and curious books, maps, postcards and memorabilia from Egypt and more.
J B: Small space but very full with a wonderful collection of old books and prints. Going to have to make multiple trips to take it all in!
Ramez Boshra: Very old and unique library
13 Outdoor: It is the best place I visited in CairoAnd the library has a soul from the owner of the library - the artist Hassan KamiIf I have time for a month in Cairo, I will stay here for 30 daysThis is the best book store in Cairo or maybe in Egypt. The reason is because the store of Mr. Hassan Kamy is very impressed.I will be back!Highly recommend you to visit here
Mickael aziz: A tresor of old and rare books, a beautiful lithograhs and old postcards
Mohammed Abdel Aziz: A treasure trove of heritage books, drawings and rare manuscripts, in a magical location in the heart of Khedive Cairo
Kenzy Fahmy: Does not seem to be able to differentiate between fakes and originals so one should be wary of buying overpriced reproductions. Will pull prices out of a hat and change them on a whim. Insanely overpriced and untrustworthy. A real shame as he has some great stuff.
Jacob Bower-Bir: You will spend more time in here than you intend to. The staff are welcoming and speak many languages.

ChanceOregon68: Do not hesitate to visit this shop if you're looking for good gift for instance
Hany Sorour: It was one of the best, most prestigious and oldest libraries, but unfortunately it was closed
Raafat Abdelgawad: One of the oldest libraries
Yasser Abdelwahab: A hidden gem in downtown Cairo, you can find authentic photos of Egypt from the 20's and old postcards
mostafa Abdulraouf: Very rich place but weirdly hidden with no signs that we kept going around the place and took us ages to find it
ABo*MoSTAfA: ancient library
Hashem Fouad: Beautiful albeit hard to find bookshop with a unique photo selection of Egyptians in late 19th century.
Quote: Language library 😊
Hadi Muss: This place is located on the sec floor of the building, just ask the guard they'll guide you. Unfortunately they don't allow photographs here. If you're intrested in old photographs, postcards, souvenirs and German books this place is the right one. I bought myself a few for mementos.
Mohamed Mosaad: An open space from time to time
Stavros Macrakis: Good bookstore on 1st floor (US 2nd) -- careful, there's no ground floor storefront. Best part, though, is the collection of prints from their founder's negatives from 1900.

El Balad Bookstore - مكتبة البلد: what do users think?
Tawfi2: Lovely place ❤️
Khaled Rashed: Library means culture means country
Amr Khairy: A very reasonable set of books. There is a lot of comics, graphic novels and some Tik Tok issues. The collection of literature and translated literature is large. Many publishing houses display their works, and people understand what is there if they need help.
Dina Taha: This place closed, and it seems to be permanent. Sorry.Edit: I forgot about this review, the reply is correct and they reopened recently. I haven't visited yet, so I don't know how it is now.
International Rap: 💙💙
ES Sabbadin: It doesn’t even deserve 1 star. We went in by mistake, and left right away, and just because we didn’t answer the guy, he came out and started arguing, as if we were thieves ? I should register his name in a course for “good manners”.
Mahmoud Awad: wonderful place
khaled mogahed: A good place to read and spending time with friends as well.
Amira Azmy: Place is friendly with small caffe and lots of books to read or buy .It hosts cultural events or languages classes
R Orhan: quiet place, but not comfortable, people who works there not collaborators
Karam Sayed: A very warm place in Cairo downtown where you can sit and take your coeffee listening to a music .
Abdelmageed Abdelaziz: هادئ ونظيف
Sherouk Elnady: Good place to study at
Omar Adel Ragab:
Ahmed Eishra: A place were you can have quite sitting and very nice hospitality. You may also buy books and accessories.
Ayah El Attar: Not perfect but its okay
Amr Fadlallah: A place where people are treated with the utmost lack of taste. We were the first time to go and they told us that you have to drink something against your will.. There were six of us, I gave them 60 pounds and walked away.
sonic boom: Nice and warm place in second floor recommended to visit
