Jamie Miller: I'm an American living in Egypt. I am a former professional chef. I was really disappointed with the dinner items that my family and I ordered. Nothing was truly authentic to an American standard which is surprising because the owner is American. The mushroom Swiss burger did not have Swiss cheese. Meat was low quality and tasteless. Buns were not toasted. The fried chicken with gravey was tasteless with an inauthentic gravey for that particular dish. The side veggies, potatoes, and soup were also flavorless. No amount of salt and pepper could fix it. However, some positive things I liked was the cheesecake, the recipe Lucille uses is over 100 years old and it's one of the best I've ever had. My daughter had the kids pancakes and it was amazing. She loved them. I also love that they serve breakfast all day but unfortunately the biscuits and gravey in the photo on the menu looks nothing like that upon receiving it. I love that they do refills on soda, in all my years living in Egypt i can say that is a rarity. I also like that the glasses are tall, and not baby sized like other restaurants where u have to refill it a dozen times during your meal. In addition to that it's awesome that they give crayons and a placemat for the kids to color on, also a rarity in Egypt. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and the air conditioning is perfect. I think the only things to improve on is quality and authenticity of food and service quality. Our waiter never asked us if we enjoyed the food and it took reminding to bring me my drink and it was not busy when we were there. I know Lucille's is a popular place among my fellow expats and I finally went after years of hearing the hype, but in my experience it's over-rated and I can make better food at home using high quality ingredients from gourmet Egypt. I think maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it, I'm accustomed to higher quality meats and I'm from the south where we make everything flavorful and hearty. However, I do recommend Lucille's for the pancakes and cheesecake. That's definitely worth going for. I hope Lucille improves on her food quality because she is representing American food in Egypt and it should be authentic as such. But maybe because of inflation it has affected her business. If it was me I'd rather have one really good restaurant that lives up to an American standard than 2 locations that are mediocre. Saying this because there are 2 locations for this restaurant. I know the owner will read this and I hope from one chef to another she can accept the criticism and improve cuz I would like to go back one day for something to look forward to other than that amazing cheesecake which obviously no improvement is needed in that area. I meant it when I said it was one of the best I ever had. If you treat all your food with the care that you do with that cheesecake you will really leave your mark in this country.

hana yahia: actually, a very well organized, packed and lively place. i was surprised. the staff was very friendly and professional. the food was good, i ordered chicken strips and a grilled chicken sandwich. the strips were good with a the bbq or ketchup. the sandwich was a bit dry but the sides were good. also they serve the veggies on the side of the plate for you to add it according to your preference, which i really liked. i found that very suiting to everyone's preference. the drinks are also very good and very flavorful. overall a great experience, would recommend
