Khedive Ismail ordered the construction of the Khedivial Opera House in the Azbakeya neighborhood in central Cairo on the occasion of the opening of the Suez Canal, where he intended to invite a large number of European kings and queens. The opera was built in just six months after it was designed by Italian architects Afoscani and Ross. Khedive Ismail's desire was directed towards an Egyptian opera in which the Khedive Opera House opens, which is the Opera of Aida, whose music was set by the Italian musician Verdi, but circumstances prevented it from presenting it at the time of the opening of the ceremony. Karim Khalaf: This place is a hidden gem in a low class neighbourhood. Royal Lily is a wedding venue having a fairly big ballroom with accessibility to an open air seating area with a garden and an amazing view of the Nile. The food there was really tasty which I didn't expect to find there. Servers have a good heart for service but they were overwhelmed.At the end this place combines the fancy look of an hotel's ballroom and the natural look and view of a rental villa.

TOM PHELAN: The hotel is impeccably clean. The staff are friendly and always on hand to assist. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels whilst working for my company and this is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The executive lounge is fantastic. The breakfasts and dinner choices are great and they change the dinner options everyday which is great as I stayed for 16 nights. I used the gym a few times and it's fantastic. It has weights, running machines etc. There is a lovely outdoor pool also. Honestly, I can't fault the hotel, Stay if you can, you won't regret it.

C E: We stayed in the room 258 and after two nights I have to go straight to the physiotherapist because I can’t move my back. The bed and pillows that used to be the jewel of any Marriott Hotel is here the worst nightmare. The mattress is old and it is in a terrible shape. The bathroom looked very old and it’s not well maintained. Also, the view from our room was really ugly and we weren’t allowed to use the terrace as they were painting the front of building. The staff is very nice and professional.
